TikTok launches a music streaming service, Open AI rolls out GPT-4 to all users,

Happy Friday! Safe streets activists in SF are disabling Cruise and Waymo robotaxis by placing traffic cones on the AVs hoods. Looks like the engineers didn’t plan for this particular edge case 😂

🌶 Daily highlight 🌶

TikTok launched TikTok Music, a music streaming service in Brazil and Indonesia. The subscription-only service integrates with users TikTok accounts, and includes the catalogues of major record companies such as UMG, Warner, and Sony 🎺

The service is far from cheap, costing around US$3 per month in both Brazil and Indonesia. However, given TikTok’s burgeoning ad business, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them spin up an ad-supported tier in the near future.

TikTok Music has its work cut out to catch up to Spotify and Apple Music, but given the distribution that TikTok offers to artists, it’s possible that deeper tie-ins with TikTok’s core product can drive meaningful market share gains 📈
