Junk Money

TikTok launches a junk monetization marketplace, Zapier ships an AI flowchart tool, Netflix mails its last DVD

Happy Monday! After 25 glorious years, Netflix sent out it’s final DVDs on Friday. As a farewell, all customers who have a DVD rental get to permanently keep their discs. My question – who on earth are these people!?

🌶 Daily highlight 🌶

TipTop launched a marketplace to turn your junk into cash.

Started by the Postmates founder, TipTop integrates with a users Gmail and Amazon accounts to scan for past purchases. TipTop then makes instant cash offers on those items, while also handling pickup / delivery logistics 🚚

It’s also building a second product for e-commerce sellers, allowing them to offer ‘guaranteed buybacks’ at pre-determined prices. If the economics work out for TipTop, it’d be compelling to e-commerce companies from the lens of increasing checkout conversion 💰

Overall this feels like a very tough execution challenge, but if TipTop cracks it, it’s going to unlock a giant pile of money.
