Amazon tests AI review summaries, Match tests timeboxed dating features, Pollen launches a membership network for freelancers

Good morning! A newly declassified government report confirms for the first time that US intelligence agencies buy American’s personal data. This ‘vast amount’ of commercially available data covers web browsing, smartphones, and connected devices. Bye bye, civil liberties 👋

🌶 Highlight of the day 🌶

Amazon tests using AI to summarize customer reviews. The A/B test is live for a subset of US customers, and provides an AI-generated summary of what shoppers liked and disliked about a product 👍 👎

For smaller purchases, this type of summary has real potential to speed up the consideration phase by skipping the need to dig into individual reviews. For larger purchases, I’m not as confident that AI summaries meets the user desire to see what other humans have said 👀
