PhonePe launches a hyperlocal commerce app, June launches generative-AI powered SQL, Google clamps down on personal loan apps

Happy Monday! Elon's war against Substack continues to ramp up. When users now search Twitter for "Substack", the query instead returns generic results for "Newsletter". The 2023 definition of free speech evolves ❌

🌶 Highlight of the day 🌶

PhonePe, India's largest mobile payments app, launched a hyperlocal commerce app. The Pincode app will initially focus on food, grocery, medicines, and electronics, and is powered by ONDC - an Indian government interoperable"network" initiative that lets buyers and sellers do business regardless of the service they use ⚖️

Given PhonePe commands over 50% of value across the government UPI payment network, the e-commerce foray is a significant move against Amazon and Flipkart.
