Humble beginnings

PMs rake it in, Amazon muscles up, electric takes flight

Happy Friday! When it comes to which Americans are most satisfied with their comp, PM's officially take the cake. 62% of PMs feel well paid, a number higher than any other profession. If you're in the other 38%, you've now got an extra arrow in the quiver come performance review time.

Wait... They shipped what!?

Amazon showcased its security aspirations with upgrades to it's Astro robot.

Details: After Astro's beta launch as a "home helper" last year, Amazon's doubling down on turning the robot into a security mechanism.

Astro now integrates with Ring, meaning it can investigate if an alarm goes off. The robot also ties in to Ring's virtual security service - when an alarm is triggered, remote agents can take control of the robot to suss things out (and talk to intruders directly).

Why it matters: Less than two months after signing an agreement to acquire iRobot, Amazon continues its robot-led march to own the home.

It's all a little creepy for my liking, but there are undoubtedly strong use cases such as if you're away from home for an extended period, or if you're a business looking for cost-effective security.
