Netflix goes IRL, Firefox tests a fake review checker, Klarna launches a 'pay now' cash back program

Happy Friday! After two months of concussion recovery, I’m finally heading back to work on Monday 🙂 I’m still limited in how much screen time I can do, so I’ll be taking a few weeks off from writing the newsletter to increase the chances of my return to work being successful. I’ll be back soon!

🌶 Daily highlight 🌶

Netflix announced Netflix House, it’s upcoming permanent brick-and-mortar retail destinations. After testing pop-up stores and events around the world, Netflix’s first permanent locations will go live in the US in 2025 🏬

The venues will feature a mix of retail, dining, and live experiences. Food and drinks will range from fast casual to high-end dining, with rotating installations spanning ticketed events based on popular content, as well as restaurants featuring food from Netflix shows 🥘

Companies such as Disney have long used the likes of theme parks to promote content and generate additional revenue. It’s unclear whether Netflix views the move as a way to increase revenue or simply promote its titles, but nonetheless it’s clear that Netflix is growing up!
