Educate Thyself

YouTube tests AI-generated educational quizzes, Shazam expands to TikTok and IG sounds, Retro launches a photo journalling app

Happy Monday! The founder of Sonic the Hedgehog has been handed a suspended prison sentence for insider trading while working on Final Fantasy VII. Guess he wasn’t quite fast enough… 🏃‍♀️

🌶 Daily highlight 🌶

YouTube tests AI-generated quizzes on educational videos. A small subset of mobile users who’ve interacted with educational videos will see AI-generated quizzes appear on YouTube’s homepage 🏠

The quizzes will test users understanding of a subject covered in a video they’ve recently watched, and users will be guided to re-watch the video if they want to dig in deeper.

While YouTube’s historically been a fairly lean-back experience, the advent of generative-AI can help YouTube address countless use cases that are adjacent to it’s core business 🤖
