Cut-Price Mortgages

Roam launches a mortgage assumption product, TikTok adds Wikipedia to search, Replit ships a desktop app

Happy Friday! A Utah resident mistook her AirPod as a vitamin, and ended up gulping it down while going for a walk. Apparently she’s not the first to do so, and turns out swallowed AirPods can still record the sound of one’s stomach 🤨

🌶 Daily highlight 🌶

Roam launched a platform for purchasing homes with an assumable low-rate mortgage included. All homes listed on Roam are “mortgage assumable”, meaning that buyers can take over existing mortgage terms from sellers 🏡

All government-backed loans (e.g. FHA and VA loans) are legally eligible for assumption, meaning Roam can address ~1/3 of all mortgages in the U.S. The product is currently live in GA, AZ, CO, TX and FL.

It’s a great time for Roam to launch. Buyers can access mortgage rates at a ~50% discount to market, while sellers see their homes become substantially more attractive to buyers given the added benefit of lower rates 🎉

So… When will this launch in the Bay Area??
