Billion Dollar Loophole

TrueMed unveils a "preventative care" HSA / FSA platform, Citi ships tokenized institutional deposits, Google adds "live pointers" to Slides

Good morning! Apple’s new ‘Personal Voice’ feature creates an automated voice that sounds like a users real voice. Thanks to a popular weather app, you can now have the weather read out in your own voice 📣

🌶 Daily highlight 🌶

TrueMed unveiled a payment integration platform that lets consumers spend pre-tax HSA / FSA dollars on “preventative care” 🏃

Preventative medical purchases previously needed letters of necessity from a doctor. Thanks to pandemic-era telehealth laws, TrueMed now sends consumers a questionnaire and simply creates the required notes itself.

The result – consumers being able to use HSA / FSA dollars on brands that integrate with TrueMed’s platform. A browse of TrueMed’s shop shows products such as CrossFit memberships, home saunas, and gut health tests 🧪

$3 billion of GMV has already been processed on TrueMed, but IMO spending pre-tax dollars on these products seems too good to be true. It’ll be interesting to see whether this eventually gets shut down, or if the government truly ends up embracing preventative healthcare this aggressively.

If it’s the later, a huge market awaits 🔥
