Google adds generative-AI to work tools, Cruise tests its new robotaxi, Duolingo launches an AI-tutor subscription tier

Happy Wednesday! Quick note that I've got a surgery (cornea cross-linking) tomorrow, and will need to be fully off screens for between 1-2 weeks to recover. Hoping I'll be able to resume the daily posts next week!

Highlight of the day

OpenAI shipped GPT-4. Among other updates, GPT-4 solves difficult problems with greater accuracy, accepts image inputs, and allows for conversation 'steering'. GPT-4 is available via a $20 / month subscription, and is already integrated into the likes of Duolingo and Stripe.
